Track Workout. I did the same format as last time. 400, 800, 1600, 800, 400 but this time I lowered my target pace to 5:40 with 400m rest between each interval. The times and effective paces were as follows:
400 - 1:19 - 5:16
800 - 2:42 - 5:24
1600 - 5:27 - 5:27
800 - 2:39 - 5:18
400 - 1:15 - 5:00
So like last time, my chosen pace was too easy even though I had lowered it by twenty seconds per mile. In fact, all of my actual times were under 5:30 pace, which is encouraging. The mile was tough, and I definitely wasn't in the mood to do another one right after it, but maybe by next weekend I will be. I hadn't intended to let two months pass between track workouts, but at least I got better rather than worse.
For the next one, I'll probably either add an interval, or do the same format lowering the target pace to 5:20. We'll see what I feel like.
